Just realized that I already have 50 pages done from before - pretty good, huh?

    how's it going now?

(I figured I'd ask up here so that the answer doesn't get squished into a narrow column)

Haven't gotten any more done since the last essay, except a little research for the resources part. Thanks for checking! I need mad encouragement.

But I've been writing columns and poetry - does that count? No, I know it doesn't...

Okay! I finished two more essays! Short ones, but still. I started another and had a talk with my family about how their disrespect for my writing makes me want to move to Mexico (my husband: "does this mean I'm not going to get to use the computer tonight?")and how I want to use the NaNoWriMo idea as sort of a push, even though my book isn't a novel and I'm not participating to complete Baby Moon or at least make significant progress. I want to finish a draft of it before 2010! .

One more essay done and a little more on another. After I finish this essay, I have five more essays to write, plus a rather extensive introduction/why chapter and a rather extensive resources-for-moms chapter at the end. I feel good about my ability to finish the essays in November but a little more stressed at the thought of getting those two "hard" chapters done in December. But I will!

Had a very big gap in the writing when husband's aunt came to stay with us for a week, but am back on track now. Finished another essay.

Poetry keeps kind of getting in my way. I am suddenly all inspired.

One more essay and part of the resources chapter. Coming in well below the word count that might be reasonable. It will have to be a very draft-y draft.

Finished what is theoretically the "last" essay. It is the last one I planned, anyway. I still need to finish the resources chapter and write the intro chapter. While it is very satisfying to see how changing the font to courier and double spacing the manuscript immediately got me from 74 pages to 168 pages, the word count is still coming in way too low. I was shooting for 50,000 a la NaNoWriMo and am not yet close to even that, but the sites I am reading about maunscripts on seem to be saying that 70,000 is what I really should be shooting for at minimum. Yikes. I'm about half-way to that.

Yea good for you! Maybe if you let is sit and "marinate" a bit, then go back for a rewrite, you'll see where the blanks are that need to be filled in. But don't just write for the sake of word count!

    Thanks!

Yeah - that's what I'm afraid I'd end up doing now. Once I finish the resources and intro. chapter, I will probably need some marination time.

    You can do it!

Sorry to hear that the family isn't super-supportive about your writing. Hopefully your talk with them will make them realize that writing is important to you and they, as people who love you and want to see you happy, should be more supportive.
