For the new folks just joining in: The way this zine project collaboration works is that everyone can contribute as much or little as they can/want; and a loose consensus works on the basis of trying to discuss and agree with those who respond and take part in these discussions. It used to be all decided on mamaphonic.com but this time a lot of folks preferred email as they did not always go to that site. So I will put this update both places. Exciting Stuff to talk about:
A) I have been approached by Joe of Microcosm Publishing that they had a book drop out of a slot and that they were going to print, and that they can print our zine in February-March – if we would like. Working with Microcosm could be a GREAT opportunity to get our printing done for us and help with distribution. I told him I would ask the group and see what they think.
B) Promotion! Write a Press Release? Do folks want to volunteer to become a promotion team – make a list to send review copies, etc. Everyone can promote this on their own places. It would be wonderful to really get this issue “out there” more.

done and done folks! it looks awesome. it's ready to send pdfs of to folks and to print and send out. depending on the weather, hopefully, nothing is cancelled, i'm not sure, but raising hell will be at the la anarchist bookfair and others coming up. i was planning on making hard copies for all the contributors and then send pdfs to those who want them.

As far as electronic copy - that would be so awesome to send to each contributor so they had their own mastercopy and can see it first.
But I think it would be good, in general, not to just give our electronic copies away (like don't post a link here or anything) but to prioritize selling this zine in it's print form. Is that ok with everyone?

yeah, that's what i had in mind, just doing last minute touch ups and hopefully have it out really soon. i apologize for it taking too long, i forgot and had to re-realize how much everyday life can interrupt plans and projects...

I definitely agree. I would like to keep the zine in print form for people who aren't contributors and save the electronic copy for those of us who are.

ok folks! sorry i haven't been on mamaphonic for a while and just got here to update. as soon as i laid everything out, it was the holidays and that has totally ruled my life for the last month. so it's all laid out. it's all beautiful. i'm halfway thru on reading out thru to make sure everything is in its place and there is not left out pieces. ( I had to lay it out four times due to errors here and there.) i can't wait to share it. i WILL get it done this week. i can have an digital version this week as well, i just want to make sure it's totally finished stylelistically (ok so i can't spell that at the moment, it's been a long day/week/month). before it get it out to folks. i'll post it here and email it to anyone interested and i'll get to the copy shop the early part of next week to check on the pricing and then we can go from there and figure out printing etc.
@china: that's awesome about the 200 and something $ from microcosm. i'll keep in touch, sorry this took way longer than i was expecting. december got in my way!

GUESS WHAT everyone - we have more money for publishng! I just got a check from microcosm publishing for royalties up to nov.18 - and it was $237.39 ! !
now we have aprox. 737.39 for printing costs!

There has been an objection to printing with microcosm from one of our members - so I pretty much do think the printing with microcosm conversation should be taken to our internal group email discussions. (and not on these boards)
I FORGOT HOW HARD organizing collectively is!!!!!
We can do this, and its gonna be awesome.
I'm no leader though, I"ve lead people jaywalking into the middle of the street before when I didn't think about how they were following. (big dinner party of out of town folks)
Already there are emails about some folks saying "I can make some copies" "i can help promote it"
I KNOW we can do this on our own, and together, with care and compromise with each other; and happiness! I think this issue is going to be Big and hope to have it more organized and getting it out there MORE than last time.
Things are going to be rolling around now.
